So I’ve always wanted a Hasselblad Xpan. For those not in the know, the Xpan is a 35mm panoramic camera that uses medium format lenses to cover a wider film plane. The result is a really cinematic looking photo with low distortion and a very wide angle of view.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I bit the bullet and bought a Fuji TX-1 with a 45mm lens. Essentially, this is just a Japanese market version of the Xpan. A couple of weeks after that, I was offered a Hasselblad Xpan with the coveted 30mm lens and finder. Shit.
In any case, I now own both and am getting ready to sell the Fuji and keep the Xpan. I swear… The stuff I get myself into.
In preparation for all of this, I shot a test roll and learned some stuff. First, I think I’m going to prefer a less grainy film for panoramic shots. And secondly, this perspective is going to take some time to get used too. I can tell though… I really like the camera
